Figuring out what to post online takes time. And that’s before factoring in writing the post and turning followers into email subscribers or, gasp, clients!
I get it. Lurking online is easier than writing and pressing publish. Sometimes, I fool myself into thinking it’s “market research”.
But I know if I don't press publish, I won’t grow my brand. I almost always feel better when I write a post and press publish.
If you’re feeling stuck like me, here’s a simple copywriting formula. It’s a neat writing prompt that I use when I’m stuck.
Problem-Agitate-Solution.
Step 1. State the problem
Usually, I start with a short question.
For example…
“Do you find writing sales copy hard?”
Or
“Would you like to earn more money writing?”
Step 2. Agitate the problem
Elaborate on the problem your audience has.
Tell a story about a time you struggled with this problem. Or describe what happened to a client before they started working with you.
Explain with emotional language so readers can see themselves in your situation.
Step 3. Present the solution
Wrap up your post by giving readers a way they can solve the problem. You could provide the solution in the post or explain how your service helps them do X, Y, and Z.
“Then I discovered a simple copywriting formula. And it changed how I work.”
